Maintenance / Hosting
All 3 platforms fall under “Managed Hosting.” This means no individual person has to “own” the monitoring and maintenance of the site. The monthly subscription covers all updates, security patches, etc.

Security
- WordPress very actively maintains a blog re: all things security for WP.
- Being Open Source, the WP community has an ongoing dialogue on this blog, ensuring any possible security breach is announced and the patch published immediately.
- This is not available for Wix / Weebly as their code is proprietary

| WordPress | Wix | Weebly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ease of Setup / Use | Easy w/ many tutorials, videos available | Still simple but restrictive, far less tutorials available | Setup/Editor is tricky to understand w/ minimal guidance available |
| Design Flexibility + Scalability | Totally flexible layouts, easily scales w/ plugins | A few more column layouts than Weebly but little beyond L/R image/text, 2 col, etc. | Not flexible at all: we are locked to a “minimalist” layout |
| Perception in Marketplace | 33% of the www runs on WP (BBC, Bloomberg, etc) | Well known as a quick way to sell online if you have good photos | Popular ~2016, little news since |
| Open Source | Yes | No | No |
| Years active in Market (Brand Trust) | 17 (est. 2003) | Current editing software was released at the start of 2020 | Editor in dev since 2007 but code is closed so little is known about bugfixes/security |
